SPRINGFIELD SCIENCE MUSEUM: Rocks from Space/Impact! Exhibit

Challenge: To design a new exhibit for their meteorite collection that would be interactive and educational for adults as well as children. This space also would act as a waiting area outside the planetarium which created a need for efficient traffic flow and high level of visitor interest.

Solution: The finished exhibit uses curved lines and multiple levels of displays and graphics to efficiently use the small space available. The mix of multimedia, interactive and static displays, as well as text, photographs and illustrations efficiently tells a complex story. Descriptive tumblers at each display keeps the information targeted and organized. The choice of colors, murals and lighting invites the visitor to enter and explore and sets the stage for the planetarium’s show.
